Tuesday~allergies and so many frustrations
I’m so sleepy and I slept pretty well. Just tired. Allergies got me though.
Went to the gym yesterday to burn off some frustrations. Yesterday was just irritating at work. I love my students but when they don’t try, how can I help them if they are not willing to help themselves? Then, having a teacher try to tell me that the student may not like the situation? Like dude seriously EVERY single class knows what I’m going to do.
If they hear a conversation I will ask them what did they hear. It can be one simple word like “I” that’s all I ask for. That is not difficult. People can do that even in languages they don’t know at all and just heard for the first time. They can cling to one word and try to get the sound out even if it’s not said correctly.
The class listened to the conversation over 5 times and the girl still didn’t want to give me a word, because guess what? Surprise su-freaking-prise she was NOT paying any attention.
Is that my problem? Nope not what-so-ever. She knows that it’s English time and what she should be doing. If you listen to something that many times you should be able to give me one freaking word. Not like I asked for the entire conversation. Just ONE word. Not liking the situation my butt, she didn’t pay attention and was upset she was called out on it. I do not and will not tolerate that in my classes.
I don’t care if I’m the “foreigner” and English is a foreign language, she’s in the 5th grade and has been taking English for a couple of years now. There were words in the conversation that she knew already. Her brother in the 3rd grade would have answered a few words without me even having to ask. I wasn’t asking her to recite the Constitution.
If a kid does not like a situation because they have trouble learning or is sick I would understand. She’s just being a brat that doesn’t want to do any work and plays around all day doing nothing. Am I going to sit there and be all “Oh, I’m sorry you don’t like what we are doing? You don’t feel like it today? Okay, you don’t have to. Sorry for not pleasing you.” No way. You have to do the work like everyone else. You aren’t special and I will not treat you like you are compared to other kids. You haven’t earned any of those rights. Plus you are a kid. A baby, you have to do the classwork. If you don’t pay attention at the beginning then of course you aren’t going to know anything and be lost the rest of the time.
I told the teacher if he keeps doing that she’ll never learn. That’s why she’s in the state she’s in. You have to push them a little out of their comfort zones. At least make them pay attention for most of the class. Not let them do whatever they please. Last I checked they aren’t paying me or have any control over what’s to be taught. They better suck it up. He backed off and said I was right. Like, come on homie you gonna let a kid just waltz all over you? I don’t think so.
Tsk.
Ok end of rant. Still has me slightly irritated.
Anyways, yeah went to the gym yesterday. I hate sweating so much. Just so eww but it must be done. Also met another lady that works out there. She just started a month and a half ago. Her English surprised me, but it was nice having someone to work out with yesterday. Today I need to go to the store and such so it’s a vid day. Plus, my ankle keeps trying to slip out of place. Kind of hard to describe it, so taking it slightly easy today. Don’t want to do damage.
Also, I have been super hungry lately. I have to keep the food coming. So much food. But that’s how my body is (for now, getting older and all), workout just a tiny bit, and ta-da results. I was always just too lazy to even do a little work and you see where it got me. All this extra weight.
The good news is that in the past week (April 18-26) I have lost a little over 3 pounds. Not bad. Hopefully, I can keep this up.
Until next time~!
