A date? A meet-up? A new friend? Who knows…
So yesterday met up with a new friend. Yes, a guy. The aviation engineer army guy. We are just friends. I’m not gonna post any pics of him…at least not for now. Gotta see how things go.
Anywho, met him in Seoul. Was suppose to be at noon. He was early by over 30 minutes. (Woo~!) Funny thing, I was early too which is why I was at Kona. I just left and was heading to the station to take the short trip to wait on him when he messaged me. So he only had to wait maybe 8 minutes.
Not going to lie I was a little nervous about meeting him. Like what if we have nothing to talk about? What if…blah blah blah. But it instantly disappeared when we greeted each other.
Also, he’s 182cm basically 6’. For those who don’t know I’m 172 cm now so around 5′8′’.
We went to Insadong together. Since he didn’t eat anything yet, we had lunch and talked. I haven’t felt this comfortable instantly with anyone in years. Like I was actually talking more without feeling like I talked too much. Conversation is easy with him and he’s hilarious.
He paid and it was raining a bit more. So he held up the umbrella over us since he’s taller. He forgot his umbrella, of course. But we walked around looking at things and talking. Then, he switched out his phone battery and explained how he had a lot and showed me like 3 of them then explained he had more. I cracked up laughing.
It started raining heavily so he bought another umbrella. We walked some more then decided to go to a cafe.
This time I paid, and we talked about any and everything. It was relaxing. We have a ton in common that shocked us both. We were both like “no way…really?” Like it was crazy.
We talked about movies. He likes horror movies! ^.^/ Finally~ We talked about some movies that a lot of people have been going crazy about. This is also when he found out I never been to the movie theaters here in Korea. He was like “Really? *whips out phone* Ok let’s see what time that movie we were talking about starts.”
He found out what time and made reservation then we talked some more.
We left and walked along the Cheonggyecheon Stream. Took some pics since he was all “Let’s take some pictures together.” While walking you can see the Seoul tower and he mentioned it . This is how he found out I haven’t been there yet either.
We went to the movies. He did the reservation check in. Since he’s in the military he gets a discount and was like “Don’t worry about the ticket cost just enjoy.”
We sat and talked before the movie started.
He was happy he took me to my first movie here in Korea. This is also when I found out he is actually older than me by almost exactly 3 months. So barely~ barely. *sigh*
I can still picture that expression he had when he realized he was older. He was all “muahahaha yes~ you have to call me oppa now~” -.-
We watched Mad Max. That movie…just wow. Definitely memorable. When it finished we didn’t even talk just “woah~ wow~” lol
Afterwards we walked around the mall looking and talking. He suggested we go to Myeongdong, so we walked there. Of course he’s starving again so on to dinner we go. He ordered and we ate. I knew a beer would be involved. Have to make cheers to a new friendship.
The funny thing is that he sweats a lot when eating spicy food. He apologized for it when he didn’t need to. For anyone that knows me when I’m hot in general I can sweat for ages. So for me to be the person not sweating and someone else doing it instead was like O.o wahh?
We were enjoying our meal while talking. This is when he became Mr. Battery Man. He has a ton of batteries for his phone. I was like O.o omg. I have to laugh at it now. But because he’s in the military and always on the go there’s no time to plug in and charge. So, having extra batteries available allows him to keep his phone going in case something happens. Which makes complete sense. Though he doesn’t have a battery pack. He didn’t know they have smaller ones. -.- I think it would be good for him to have at least one. That’ll give him some more back up if he ever needs it.
After eating and talking we headed out. Then he was like “Let’s go to the tower we can catch a bus up there and now the city is lit up which is good.” So onward to Seoul/Namsan Tower we went.
My turn to sweat because it was warm and humid on the bus. While talking on the bus we realized that neither of us likes to be late at all. Hence why we were both over an half an hour early. haha
We made it to Namsan’s stop, then you have to walk a path the rest of the way up. We were laughing and talking so it wasn’t too bad. That hill is killer though. Waist down, muscles were burning. We walked around enjoying the view and such. He was all “let’s take a picture! *pulls out phone*”
We enjoyed the view and talked some more.
We admitted what we were worried about. Like not having anything to say or if we wouldn’t be able to communicate. We both had the same worries basically. Except, I was the first foreign friend he has met so he was super nervous about his English. We couldn’t help but laugh at how silly our worries were.
We decided to leave so we can take the subway home.
He lives out here, so we came home together. He has to go to the last stop where I’m 2 stops before him. So we got on a bus to leave and then hopped the subway. We talked some more of course. He actually has a car but it’s easier to get around Seoul by subway or bus because of traffic.
But yeah we got to know each other pretty well.
It was just really comfortable. I don’t know everything was just nice and relaxing with him. We hung out for over 10 hours together. Didn’t see that coming. O.o He was an absolute gentleman the entire time. No complaints at all. Even though the weather went from rainy to sunny, hot, and humid to windy and cool, it was a great Saturday. It was lovely. ^^
Until next time~!
