First Chuseok: exploring historical palaces and Royal Guards

So yesterday I went to two palaces. I was staying around 15 minutes away (walking) if that from one Changdeokgung. I’m wondering if gung meant palace. Never mind looked it up and it does.

I went to Gyeongbokgung last year but this year was better because I finally got to see the changing of the guards! It was AWESOME! Like watching a historical drama. I didn’t expect to be so excited but I couldn’t help it. I get all hyped up just thinking about it. I have always wanted to see it. Why? I don’t know, just something about it made me want to see it in person. I’ll upload a video later of that.

Two more palaces

Today I went to two more palaces (Deoksugung and Gyeonghuigung). They were not as crowded as Gyeongbokgung. That’s the one that everyone seems to go to. Even today when I went back with Keri it was a long long line so she decided she’ll wait another day to go there. Yesterday was free, today different story. Which makes sense it’s easy to find, it’s the oldest and largest palace out the five.

Funny thing to me is that all of the palaces had a lot attached to them. Now it’s  part of modern Seoul. Gyeongbokgung was the largest back then and still is now. It takes awhile to walk around it already I can only imagine way back then. x.x

This time I made sure to eat before walking around in the heat. Nearly passed out yesterday. Seriously my hearing was going away along with my sight. I got overheated on top of it. That was scary -.- I do not do well in heat at all. Not like I do well in cold weather either. *sigh*

Anyways, all the palaces, well the four I went to are unique in different ways. Like behind the thrones each have their own design. Some palaces are bigger and some smaller. All awesome though. I want to make it to the fifth …Changgyeonggung whenever I get time. I heard it was used for the females mostly so I think it’ll be nice to see.

It was a nice way to spend Chuseok. ^^

Until next time!
