Made it to Europe~! First stop: England
So umâŚafter over 25 hours of traveling, multiple currencies and languages, 4 countries, 3 flights, 4 trains, a missed flight/connection freak out, a Starbucks cheer-up, and a bus, I actually made it out of Korea after 2.5 years.
K and I actually made it to Europe after wanting to visit here for ages. Even made it to China even though it was at the airport haha. My goal is to travel there too in the future.
The first flight was from ICN(Seoul)-> CAN (Guangzhou). We were there for a few hours. Luckily the transfer wasnât as hard as the website made it seem. Thankfully.
Then, left China for Amsterdam. This flight came in late so we missed our connecting flight to London. We had to get rebooked for the next one over 2 hours later than our original one. This got us upset for a while because we bought train tickets from London to the resort area which are not cheap in any way. And the fact from Heathrow in London to the station we needed is over an hour away freaked us out even more about time because we could miss it completely if we didnât get off the plane, through security, customs and pray our luggage was there unharmed.
Not going to lie, I like Amsterdam. I never realized how similar Dutch and German were. So, I was able to understand a good bit of it. Also, some of the airport workers kept us entertained with how sassy they were. Some might say it was borderline rude but K and I found it hilarious. Especially when they called someone for the plane like âJack you are delaying your plane. Hurry or your luggage will be tossed from the plane.â It was priceless. The guy making the announcements was the best. The lady was nicer haha.
Anyways, finally boarded our 3rd flight and got to London in like 40 minutes.
Landed earlier, and went through a ton of walking to get to security/customs. The EU citizens’ line was long but they got through in no time. We other citizens from other countries only had 2 people working on our side and it went super slow. One lady got upset and pointed out how wrong that was and that most of us flew a long time to get here. Also, she flies to London a lot and never saw only 2 workers. A worker tried to say that was all of their staff for the day and the lady knew they were lying. Maybe within 10 minutes, 8 more workers came out and it went a lot faster. Thankfully K and I beat a large crowd and got through before 11:30. Even shocked the customs workers with where we came from and where we were going.
We were hoping to be out of the airport before 12 to catch the tube by 12:07. We got our luggage in no time and were on the first train before 11:40. Made transfers and made it to the station we needed early.
Was able to buy some snacks and other things at a pharmacy that reminded us of back home (in the US) like Rite Aid. Got on the train and made it to the resort area. As soon as we got off it started to rain and it was cold. We looked for a bus station and luckily the right bus came not too far from the train station.
The buses open up on the left. Obviously, since that’s the side of the road they drive on, but I never even thought about that until we were getting on the bus. Anyways, we made it to the resort and checked in. We surprised the girl that checked us in by saying we came from Korea. I mean we did. Came in to check things out. Then, decided to order food from the restaurant here because we were tired, hungry, and wanted to shower. Â Did that, made ourselves human again, and were knocked out before 8 pm. Only to wake up before 3 am. Currently, itâs almost 5 am and I am still awake. This happens if I go to sleep before 8 pm anywhere in the world though. -.-
But yeah we made it~ phew. ??
