Jeju, an interesting first month with snow and a covid scare
Jeju and snow y’all. Everything has been just white for days. Most people don’t go out when it snows including taxis. Also, if you want delivery, good luck. Nearly impossible. You need to get to the restaurant yourself or just cook.
This week overall was a bit better with the snow than the week before. Also, once more snow got on the ground more people went out. Most were playing in it. Right now it’s melting a bit so it’s going to be a bit dangerous. The wind is brutal. My left eye dried out so much it’s been irritated and I have to keep it moist with eyedrops or it’ll drive me crazy. Thankfully not as much these days. So it’s getting better.
My school let us leave early when the snow was really bad, if we didn’t have a class at 5 and had the bus driver drop off us teachers so we would be able to get home as safe as possible. Talking about being thankful.
Us teachers (Korean and foreign) have become closer through the covid scare we had and this snow. We have been teaching some classes online. I have the most experience out of everyone for online teaching since I did it at a previous job before covid. I’m also one of the most experienced ones in general for teaching besides maybe 3 of the Korean teachers.
I’ve officially been here a month, only taught 3 weeks because one was winter vacay. So far it’s all been interesting. Still getting in my coffee and bbq ?
