Long time no see. So, um…this post shall be about.
*coughs and makes a grand entrance*
Dating in Korea~
I know oh snap. Some of you probably grasped your chests while gasping like I said I won a billion dollars. haha
Anyways, I figured why not give it a twirl. See what is out there in the dating world. I’ve been single for almost 5 years. Time to get out there~! haha Plus, how can I find someone if I don’t get out there in the game, right? Right. Glad we all agree on that. Also, who knows how long I will be in Korea. Not saying I want to leave any time soon, but you know I can’t tell the future.
Anywho, what has been going on?
Mr. Battery no word in over a month. And welp I consider him in the past now. Moving on~
I’m in the talking stages with guys, which of course most never make it from there to the meeting stage.
To me this is all entertaining actually. Most of the guys use the same lines, that I guess work on most girls. Maybe? I don’t see how when it makes me just want to hit them a bit on the back of their heads and ask
“Weren’t you raised better than that?”
But ya know, can’t go around hitting people’s kids even if they are grown men.
So here are the contenders at the moment:
Guy #1
A plant engineer, 31, 178cm (5′10′’), worked in China for the past 6 years and just came back to Korea last month, English level maybe a 2 out of 5. Or a 1.5…
–He was ok at first. They all start out ok. A bit too eager for some things. Looking at the entire situation it’s a bit odd. He started saying that he missed me without even meeting me. Wanted me to be his girlfriend and such. Um…no, not happening. I don’t care how much money or whatever you want to offer, I need to know you first. I…just cannot. I don’t jump into relationships. I don’t care how much you like me, I might not like you the same way. That’s just the truth. Then after maybe a few days, he decided to use to L-word. Yes “love” Um…again no. You can’t love me without knowing anything about me or at least meeting me. Just no no no. Ok I know some people fall in love first sight or whatever. But come on…No. He wanted to hang out Saturday. Made a partial plan last Monday and never followed through. I didn’t send anything. So~ maybe that’s the end of that. *shrugs* Not going to lie, it was kind of stressful. Too much too soon.
Guy #2
A civil engineer, 30, 172cm (5′8′’), English level 2 or 2.5 out of 5.
-Again ok at first. He likes to call though. Everyone should know by now, I’m not too much of a phone person. I’ve been trying to work on it, so I will answer my phone. If I know who’s calling. He doesn’t bother me too much. We talk here and there. Kind of…I don’t know. He’s just there. I feel nothing. His voice is nice though. Eh~
Guy #3
Business owner, 31, 178cm (5′10′’), English level maybe a 3 out of 5.
–He’s ok, interesting. We talked a bit but I don’t know I think that would be it. Nothing to really talk about with it. He’s kind of cocky in a good way, but eh~
Guy #4
Graduate student, 35, 180cm (6′), English 5 out 5, fluent in French, knows some Chinese and Spanish, on his second masters
-He’s more like an older friend. We tend to get along and understand what the other one is talking about. We can express our opinions even if the other does not agree with it and still get along. It’s honestly a breath of fresh air. He’s helping me with my Korean too and he gets to practice his English. We are cracking up at how messed up the dating scene is. And how difficult it is to just meet people with common sense to be friends with. I’m suppose to hang out with him this weekend. We shall see how that goes.
Guy #5
식품관련 회사원 (food industry, what exactly? idk), 26, height unknown, English maybe 1.5 out of 5
-He just popped up. Ok all of them popped up. But he was more like “let’s be friends.” and it’s like O.o who are you? and why? What do you want from me? He’s decent though. He can read English and understand it better than speaking it. Which I completely understand, that’s basically how I am with Korean. So, so far we are talking in Korean. He knows my Korean is crap and it’s ok. Right now he seems like a good friend. We’ll see how long this lasts. It’s funny though because I was checking his age and he’s a good year older. I was like dag it…but he’s not all “you have to call me oppa.” Instead he’s more like “it’s cool, we are friends!” Phew~ I don’t know, I feel pretty chill with him.
Guy #6 (I know so many)
Yonsei University student, 24 (Korean age so like what 22/23? basically a kid), height unknown, English around a 2.5 out of 5.
-The latest to pop up. “needs help with English” yeah ok. Went to the “Do you have a boyfriend or something?” then “actually I like ur style.” *rolls eyes* Give me a break kid. I don’t date youngin’s “Do you date Korean guys?” blah blah blah He won’t last long before being blocked.
Blocking is my favorite pastime it seems.
Out of all of them only maybe guys #4 and #5 seem decent enough to keep around as friends. That is if they stick around. I swear. In a week or a month they all might be gone. *shrugs* oh well. Let’s do this~ Wish me luck? haha
Until next time~!
