Good news~
Sorry for the wait~?
Nevertheless, shall I begin?
First, I got a call earlier in the week from my recruiter talking about interviewing for another job since the one I accepted doesn’t want to pay pension. ? So, he was giving more options.
Not a good sign. Most e2 (visa) holders need to pay into it (there are some exceptions based on nationality). Hagwons have a loophole though where they can put us down as an “independent contractor” instead of an employee which makes them not responsible for paying pension and even medical if they don’t want. Which is illegal. Don’t take a job that does this.
I personally was tired of interviews. I am not a phone person and having to do a ton of interviews last minute with barely any info was getting to me. Then he kept trying to set up impossible in-person interviews. For instance at 1:30 at a place that is over 2 hours away when I have classes that don’t end until 12. That means I would have to call a taxi because the bus passes the school at the same time and another wouldn’t come for at least 30 minutes. Go home then to the bus station. By then it would be almost 1 pm. Then another 2ish hours on the road, take another 40~hour on the subway and maybe a taxi again? Just no way.
I was over all that. I told him that I will just take the job and pay into pension myself. That way he could leave me alone a bit. Tired of my phone ringing during work and even late in the evening when it is not someone I am close to.
Once I found out about all that, I was all “Keri~~~ look into the position at your place please???“??
Since there was an opening at her workplace. I figured why not? Plus, it can’t be that bad or Keri would have never gone back. I rather go into something not completely blind.
And like a true friend she wasted no time looking into it. I sent my resume and pics. She gave them to her boss the next morning. Did a phone “interview” that afternoon. Basically had the job just needed to sign the contract. Signed the contract the next morning and yeah tada~~ a new job~
This meets my basic demands as pay is not lower than now, basic benefits (pension~), and in Seoul. I also know the area pretty well and have friends in the area. Well at work too. So yay~
Thank you Keri~?????
Totally saved me from so much stress. The stress was messing with my body. ?
But now I am so happy~ Finally Seoul. Haven’t lived in Seoul since KU days in 2012. The convience I will have back alone makes me happy.
I have to toss a lot of things. I know the apartment will be small. So I want as much space as possible. That means it has to be as clean and clutter-free as possible.
If I like the job and stay another year or so then I will look into getting my own place. That way I can have something that is actually mine. ??
And of course, as you all know someone else knows about this. If you have been keeping up I won’t even mention who it is because you should know.
Anyways, mentioned it yesterday morning and he stopped working for a bit to go “really? Seoul? Where?” Told him the area and what did I do that for. Man is too happy for his own good. Started listing places close by that are easy to get to. He mentioned once again that his parents don’t live too far. I think he tends to stay there now when he visits especially with his mother’s health. Then, he just commutes to the heart of Seoul from there. It is much easier that way.
That adds an interesting twist to things.
He is currently building a new studio in LA. Go figure. Him and those freaking feathery pillows. ? But he listened and made sure they aren’t the ones that leave stuff on your clothes. So eh~ he can keep them.
But yes~ that was my good news. Took me forever but got it. ?
Now to watch the new episodes of the 2 dramas I am watching. Until next time~
2023 Note: 2017 was a crazy year and not in a good way. This was only the beginning.
