Alone with 31 students, what could go wrong or right?
Monday
It was just me and 31 first graders. I know close to no Korean and their English is severely broken. Somehow it worked out wonderfully. Especially when I pulled out the stickers. One little girl, her English is great and sheās always āOH PLEASE, PICK ME!ā Iām like O.o then the ones who used to try to hide are talking a lot more. It makes me happy that they are trying. Their English is coming along pretty well.
Wednesdays
Wednesdays, I do absolutely nothing but sit at my desk and lesson plan. Or just well, nothing but sit there trying to find out what Iām going to do in my life. Itās kind of sad because you have all this time on your hands to think. You know sometimes just thinking is not a good thing all the time.
Will I have any students in this class?
BUT! I do have an afterschool class of 3-6 graders on Wednesdays as well as Fridays. At first there were like 13 kids and then it was suddenly 3. Yep that felt lovely. I was like the kids hate me! Then I finally saw them this Wednesday because I didnāt have them after school for 2 weeks. There were cancellations and then Chuseok.
So I was like I might as well just print out like 4 sheets to pass out, no need to do anymore. Ā I still did more than that hoping that I didnāt just waste more paper. Ok, I use the backs for notes and stuff because I donāt want to toss it in the recycle bin without it ever being used.
Anyways, I walk to class and thinking how I’m going to see my practically empty classroom again. Only to be in for a surprise and see it filled with around 20 kids. I almost cried.
Class
We started learning about countries and nationalities. The kids were good and tried really hard. One of my little buddies came back. I donāt know what it is about him but he makes me laugh. They were yelling answers like āAUSTRALIA! CANADIANNNN! FRENCHIE!ā I love these little ones to pieces.
Especially one little boy that I swear is the cutest little kid Iāve ever seen. Like heās just past adorable, itās absolutely ridiculous how cute he is. Every time I see him, Iām like āAwwwww arenāt you the cutest little person!ā I feel like old people wanting to pinch cheeks. *sigh* Donāt let him laugh. I swear have a bad day and see him youād forget about it.
Second graders
Yesterday I had second graders and thereās only like eight of them. They are always a pleasure since the beginning. Some of the boys try to cause problems but then when I put them in time out (they were shocked I did it hehe) and we start playing a game they are all āOH! AISHA TEACHER IāM SO SORRY! I WANT TO PLAY!ā Iām all O.o oh now you want to use English. I see. I finally give in and let them play. I didnāt have trouble from them after that, no matter what we were doing.
3rd-6th graders
Today, I had my 3-6 graders again. Fridays are always less since those kids do a ton of things. But my little cutie pie is in there. Then, I found out who his sister was. Sheās always good in class too, just they are both awesome. I thank their parents (or whoever raised them)Ā for raising decent children. I have another set of siblings in there that are well behaved. I like that. They were trying to unscramble words. The cute one was trying to copy off his sister. It was so cute! Iām smiling now like a goof ball just thinking about it. Reminded me of my sister and brother.
I miss you guys! T_T
I love my after school classes though. Iām glad I went ahead and said āok sure!ā. Plus not like thereās something else for me to do besides sit at my desk bored to death.
Anyways until next time! Which is like another post right after this one. š
