After so long…COVID really got me by surprise
I knew it was going to happen sooner or later, but dang. It really got me by surprise. I know where I got it from too, a kid that was all over me maskless, then tested positive right after. Yay~*sarcastic*
How it started…
It really did feel like a cold at first especially with my nose. Though, I felt my throat not feeling too lovely a few times and it was ok, then it wasn’t. My throat doesn’t normally bother me when I catch a cold. By the weekend, I wasn’t feeling 100%, but Saturday wasn’t bad. Sunday, the next thing I know my voice was gone, and I didn’t want to talk. I was feeling odd but still trying to get things done.
When you feel it in your gut…trust it
It’s when I went out to brunch that it hit me that I might actually have it. Why? What I was feeling was definitely not like a cold I have ever had. Eating felt odd. Like really odd. I don’t know how to explain it exactly in words. I didn’t feel like having coffee whatsoever. Each bite sent a weird feeling through my body that I hated. I ended up tearing up because I felt deep down like this is it. There was no other way to explain it.
When I got home, I realized I was cold in the middle of a hot summer. I was feeling pretty cold all week. I set my place at 28-29 degrees celsius and threw on a sweater because I was still feeling cold.
If you know me, I’m always hot, so suddenly cold isn’t a good thing. It also takes me back to the summer I was diagnosed with UC and the same thing happened to me constantly. Anyways, a friend got me some stuff and then I basically slept.
Testing at home
After waking up, I took an at-home test because it just had to be done. I felt horrible at this point. It popped up positive. I was not happy. Who would be? Totally livid knowing that I caught it. I definitely hate the thought that this thing slipped in and is weakening my immune system as I think about it more and more. I just took another one to make sure and it was still positive.
Notifying others
So, I informed my boss. Can’t say their reply was too great. Everyone in my office has had it except for me and the head people. I haven’t missed one day since I’ve been working at this place. I’ve never been late, if anything I’m always early.
Others in the office were understanding thankfully. I really appreciate it. Thankfully, my boss allowed me to stay home for the week without having to teach on-line or anything. Honestly, I would not have been able to do it on-line even because my voice was barely in existence and I couldn’t stay awake for more than 20-30 minutes at time most days. Sitting up was enough to tire me out most of the time.
So, yeah…COVID. Would not recommend whatsoever. It’s not for me, it never has been and will never be. It is definitely not my style and the fact my throat still feels like there’s a random pocket in the front that stings from time to time, does not have me happy. Like…nope.
I might make a post on how I felt each day during quarantine. I did keep notes just in case. Never know what could happen, so yeah…Be on the look out for that later. I have a lot of posts I should do.
Anyways, until next time! Hopefully soon.
