New place, first night…mare?
So, finished paid the deposit on Monday and booked a truck to move for the next day. Moved into my place Tuesday. Today is only my 3rd day here and 2nd full day.
Anyways, moved in. Talked to mom a bit while siting in my closet (it was comfortable). Put away some things slowly. Went to get dinner with a friend and some ice cream. Came back. Decided I would finish unpack the rest the next day and just take a quick shower before relaxing a bit to sleep.
Go to take a shower and closed the door. It was a little hard, but I didn’t even think about it. Didn’t even realize the handles weren’t put on it. I normally pick up on these things but I was tired.
Forgot something. Went to turn to open the door.
Guess what?
Guessssssssss~
*drum rolls*
I can’t get out!!!
I’m stuck!
The only thing to even see outside is this small hole that is maybe the size of a nickel (where the handle should have been). That’s it.
So, I’m like ok, maybe I didn’t pull hard enough. Nope. The door is not budging much. I’m all “Alright, think don’t panic.”
I tried so many times, but nothing. I started getting hot and was all okay this is how I die. Literally, thought I was going to die in there. I was pouring sweat like I was in a sauna and there was no way out.
And my phone was outside the shower, so no I couldn’t message anyone.
Didn’t help I kept getting lightheaded. Fantastic right?
The only things I could use were my fingers to the first joint to even try to get out. That door and stuff are heavy. Nearly broke my fingernails and heck my actual fingers trying to get to open more than a few mm. A coffee straw would struggle to get through the crack. I was using all of my body weight to push the other side while pulling the door.
I tried for so long until my arms were getting sore and my fingers couldn’t take anymore. Tried to knock on the wall so maybe my neighbor would hear.
HA~ nope not possible. It’s built where you can hear water but not a knock. knocking is useless in the shower. Go figure.
I turned to literally yelling/screaming for help for god knows how long. But not one person heard. I NEVER yelled or screamed like that. Ever.
By this point I just sat down and was all “Okay, I will die in the shower, right before my birthday. No one will even realize something is wrong until it is too late and who would check this place? No one knows where I live beside my real estate homie and I only met him Friday. Welp, some way to go. Finally, get things together and bam dies by being trapped in the shower. Lovely. My friends and family won’t ever know how much they mean to me. Wait, I can’t go down like this. Even if I break some fingers or something else, I must get out.”
Then, it hit me it seemed something was preventing the door from opening properly. The thinnest thing I had was the plastic covering from my face/body scrub. I ran it under the door and realized half-way through it couldn’t slide anymore. That was the problem. The door isn’t properly leveled.
This is why I am picky about the construction of things. Ugh. I let my guard down a little and tada.
So, I used what strength was left along with being pissed off, and gave it all I had while changing my attempt at opening it. If it didn’t work, then I was willing to accept my fate. As I said before not like someone was going to save me.
FINALLY, IT OPENED.
Never been so happy for a door to open. Checked the time and realized 2 hours went by.
I was stuck for 2 hours. I was trying to get out for 2 bloody hours.
Caught up with some friends on what happened. Sent the real estate guy a message about it.
Then, I finally took a quick shower, the door won’t close past a certain point unless you force it and I will not be doing that. Found the handles in the cabinet too. -.-
My hands and legs cramped up once I tried to relax after that. Literally, couldn’t use my left hand for a few minutes. If I overwork it, it cramps up. I realized that in college. The muscles in my hands have some issues. Now my body just hurts. I had some bruises that are fading away a good bit, my fingers were painful all yesterday, one was a bit swollen, my right hip is bruised the most, laughing hurts, my back hurts, and moving my right shoulder hurts no matter how little I move it, and my left one hurts too but not as much.
That was a pure nightmare. If I didn’t think about what to do or heck even have my weight/strength I would probably still be in there. *sighs* I will always carry my phone in no matter what. Not risking that ever again.
So, yeah my first night was adventurous.
Let’s hope nothing else crazy happens.
Until next time~ 안녕~
