A Year in China- updates and highly annoyed
First, long time, no see. I know it’s been a while. I feel like I had a lot to talk about, but also nothing.
Annoyed
Not going to lie, this year is nothing like I planned, it’s been highly annoying in some odd ways.
Family drama has happened in multiple ways. Not going to get into it all.
All my extra money this year has been going into my sister for over 6 months. That should be over soon, thankfully. It wasn’t supposed to be this long at all. It wasn’t discussed or agreed upon to be this long. It was supposed to be 2-2.5 months max…this summer not since the end of January, so yeah. Now it’s going to be for about 4x that amount of time. Yep. Surprise.
My account definitely hates it because I had other plans that were tossed away because of everything else. I’m stressing over money when it wasn’t supposed to even be an issue if I was by myself. I could’ve had some debt paid down but nope. Ugh.
There’s also work drama that honestly wouldn’t be an issue if the manager and a teacher stopped going at each other. It’s annoying.
So, my favorite word this year has been annoyed. Phrases: “That’s annoying” or “So annoying.”
Updates
Another year?
In other news, I signed another contract with my job. This time for 2 years. I normally wouldn’t anywhere, but I did this time.
Why?
- This year just made no sense to me. So much happened and it’s wild.
- I know what I’m getting into with this school.
- I don’t like moving around much if I don’t have to.
- My bosses are actually decent. I get along with the ones at my school, the company I’m hired under, and the bosses from the school in the US.
- I do like my students even if they are a mess.
- I still need to explore Nanjing more.
- Long summer vacation and a good winter break as well. Even though my summer plans were squashed this year.
- I don’t have to be in the office. I only have to show up to teach and the rest of the time is mine. I can be on campus or at home after classes.
My school is fine. It’s a job like anywhere else. Still better than all the places I worked at in Korea besides maybe my first school. Maybe. They don’t micro-manage or anything. The parents don’t bother us. We have parent-teacher conferences twice a school year. There are issues, but that’s anywhere. They aren’t major ones and it’s mostly with some teachers clashing with the manager as well as some other higher-ups. Like the one I mentioned earlier.
Moving?
I know I said I didn’t like to do it, but it wasn’t by choice.
I moved apartments last month. It’s a bigger place that I still need to decorate but um…money once again. So, that’ll have to wait until later. It’s 3 bd/1ba. The last place was 2bd/1ba. So, an extra room and the common area and balcony are larger. I do have to pay money with this place though since it’s over what the school covers. So more money…whoosh~
Overall, I’m ok just annoyed by some things that honestly I shouldn’t even have to be dealing with but somehow I am.
Hopefully, by the end of the year, I’ll be back on track with things I want to do.
