Just another day keeping my desk nice and toasty.

So it’s another day sitting here at my desk, though tomorrow is going to busy all the way until lunch time and I’ll finally meet the fourth graders! I guess I better enjoy sitting now, because next week is going to be a normal schedule after school classes and all. Nooooooooo~! *dramatic drop to the knees* 왜?! (Why?!)

Anyways, yesterday was really productive. I finished my outlines and details for my afterschool classes through December. Just have to prepare stuff for them and then I won’t have to worry about that. Even have normal lesson plans for next week done, so I’m trying to get ahead as much as possible and looking up ideas to go along. Oooo I feel so teacherish. >.> That’s so not a word but let it slide, ok? Ok.

Even though I haven’t taught this week I still see the kids in the halls, as well as in the cafeteria during lunch. They are always “AHHHH! HELLO!”

Yesterday I had to laugh because some of the kids haven’t met me yet and was all O.O “who’s she?” while some of my students were like “*hits* babo! THAT’S AISHA TEACHER” I was all oh lord they are about to knock the kids senseless because they don’t know who I am. They made sure to get the pronunciation right also. That still has me giggling at the thought.

While walking back to the teacher’s office I ran across some more students all “Hello Aisha teacher!” and just attacks me with hugs. I was all O.o *hugs back*. It’s cool I love giving hugs to little ones anyways.

More lesson planning

Today is the same as yesterday, except I’m browsing through youtube for songs the kids might like. Especially for my first and second graders that I only deal with after school, so I’m searching like a crazy person.

I need something catchy and that they will understand. One lesson is going to be “What’s Your Name?” and instantly 4Minute’s song popped into my mind and I’m all “lalalalalalala What’s your name? What’s your name? lalalalalala Ireumi mwoyeyo? Mwo mwoyeo?” Granted it’s catchy but they are so young they wouldn’t get the reference and it came out this year. It might help though, never know. Just the “what’s your name?” parts in English and Korean. That way they’ll have a translation too. Hmm…I’ll put it in a bubble and come back to it.

Lunch time is…interesting

Anywho, the next thing I know it’s lunch time, which I’m growing fond of. It’s so weird, I normally skip lunch. In high school I never even ate or step foot in the cafeteria (seriously, except for during German class when we had to film something dealing with food). College, if I had time I would grab something quick, but here it’s like “WOO~ LUNCH!”

Kids talking and laughing

Anyways when I went in the kids are all “Hello~!” even some that I don’t know. Then two from my third grade class was saying something about me I could tell by the way they were looking and giggling. All I could figure it was the pen that I have in my hair because nothing else was out of place or anything. Besides my skin still being broken out from the other day, but it’s better than Monday. I still don’t know why.

But I know a lot of people have commented on me having a pen in my hair in the past even at home. I know it’s there I put it in there after I complete my hair. I know I will always have a pen on me no matter what. If I don’t then something must be an off day for me. Anyways, finally one of the older students that gave me a hug again today was like “Teacher, you know you have pen in hair?” I nodded and said “You guys just realized? There’s one always there.” And they were all O.O “Ohhhhh….” I laughed and continued up the stairs.

They are little, cute, loud, spontaneous, and you have no clue what they are talking about half the time. Heck they barely know what they are talking about themselves but they make teaching worth it. There will always be ups and downs in this job but I think the good things will always outshine the bad. They might get on your nerves but those little smiles with teeth missing are the best.

Random spiders

There are these spiders that decided to move outside my window. One is huge! Ok it’s like bigger than a quarter so it’s huge to me. Too big and it looks a little hairy *shivers* creepy. Anyways I woke up to it yesterday. Then, I saw a medium sized spider that looks like a different kind and then a smaller one. I’m like what’s with all these spiders?!

I went to cook dinner and it seems the big spider caught his also. Poor fly didn’t have a chance. It got in the web and the spider acted quickly. He had dinner the same time I did. I know eating alone is lonely but it’s just downright weird when a spider is basically eating along with you. On top of it I tend to run into spider webs walking down the stairs every morning. It was like that at home too. I guess I’m destined to walk into spider webs for the rest of my life early in the morning. Joy.

Find out things: water and trash system

I also found out the trash system and my hot water! Like OMG I won a million dollars. I wish. *sighs* But I swear I’m so happy. I was on the right track about the water but I didn’t want to turn on the floors and be hot. It’s already hot enough outside.

The trash system is weird, it’s more like recycling if anything. Blue bags for regular trash, yellow bags for food (which shockingly I haven’t put anything in yet because all I have left are like bones and shells which aren’t allowed), white/vinyl bags for recycling (in which I have to find because I have a lot of bottles and glasses).

Other English teachers

Learned that there are other English teachers here in Yangpyeong. Okay, I knew that already. They are way in the English Village though. They live and work there. My co-teacher made it seem like a prison camp or something. It can’t be that bad right? It’s just weird I’ve never seen any of them out. I mean like I live downtown right from the bus and subway and never ever saw another foreigner that lives here. Biking or hiking yeah, but living? Nope. Maybe they just hang out together or something. And have their own transportation. I don’t know. I’m grasping at straws here.

Enough rambling from me. If anyone has any questions just send me a message!

 Until next time~
