Reading, after school classes, and getting more comfortable

I read The Three Little Pigs in front of the entire school via broadcast. Shockingly I wasn’t that nervous which is funny itself. Did sound effects and all. I even heard the kids doing them later. When I finished I was like omg, I did it. My co-workers were all telling me I did a great job and couldn’t help but laugh when I was doing my sounds. Even the principal and vice principal said they enjoyed it. So I’m proud. Plus I have to do it every Tuesday from now on.

Now, I’ve already told you guys about my first graders, so I’m not going to repeat that.

I have an after school class of third-sixth graders that started Wednesday and then one with second graders that I finally met today. I already know the kids from 3rd-6th grade and there’s only like 10 for the after school class. Most of them are in the third grade. I have one fifth grader that’s really shy and sweet. The sixth grader doesn’t talk much but she answers when needed.

They are all well behaved, but my problem is when I ask a question they repeat it instead of answering it. It takes awhile before they can just answer something I asked. My first graders did better than this and today my second graders were awesome. I’m like what’s going on when they get into the third grade?

Though one of my little buddies that’s in the third grade is in there and straightens the other ones out when I’m asking something. So he’s super helpful. The oldest (6th grader), has to leave half way since her after school classes overlap, but she helps out a lot too.

My second graders, I love them. They got the lesson easily. If one was having problems they helped them out. I let them color and relax then play hangman with the words from the lesson. One boy was really sleepy, once he finished everything I told him to rest. And he was like O.O really? I’m like “yeah, you finished what you needed to. Go ahead.” Never seen a kid so happy to do nothing. But then he joined in to play hangman. They got all their work done, so I was happy. Nothing to complain about with them.

Lunch time, I still can’t cut the line in front of little kids. I just cannot do it. When I stand at the back of the line everyone is like “You know you can go to the front right?” I just nod and stay where I’m at. Though yesterday I was pulled in by some of my third grade girls. They’re all “AH! AISHA TEACHER, HERE!” I’m all “Ok…ok calm down” They were hanging around my legs and arms about to fight each other to stand near me. They sat beside me to eat too, which I’m glad because I was able to give them some food off my tray. I always receive way too much. They were happy about that.

Now that I think about it my Wednesday was packed with a lot of stuff. O.o I normally have nothing to do but sit at my desk.

Tomorrow I have third graders and then after school with 3-6 grade. Not too bad. Then it’s the weekend. Woo~
