Recovery in a Korean hospital after surgery-Day 1
Can eat but again like lunch at school: soup and rice. But what matters even more is
WATER! OMG FINALLY! Never again will I go without it. Well hopefully if I have any control. Never been so happy for water.
How do I feel? I feel okish. In pain, but not as bad as I thought I would be. Trying to be careful not to tear any stitches. I can’t sit at all. Made that mistake without thinking to try to eat and welp had to get new gauzes and everything. -.-
The pain? I can tolerate a good bit and right now it’s a dull pain. Pain meds help a ton. Better than what I was going through the past few days. That was “I might shed some tears. I want this chopped off” pain. Even with meds.
Yeah my pain levels are odd hahahaha.
My dad called the embassy which made me laugh. But they called this morning and were nice making sure I’m taken care of. They were kind of shocked when I was explaining how my school is and how worried they all are.
The nurse from school came last night to visit. When I get better definitely going to get the people at school something. They have been sweethearts.
The principal is wondering why I didn’t notice the thing earlier and say anything. Can’t say anything if you don’t know about it. It caught me by surprise too. I just know that she’s worried.
Students are worried too. They don’t know the real reason why I’m in the hospital but they know.
Co-teacher is coming again today. She was worried when the surgery took longer than 30 minutes. I’ll never forget that huge sigh of relief and expression on her face when I smiled and waved saying “I’m good just numb. Another chapter of my book to write.”
Just made me tear up. I’ve been treated so well by everyone. Nurses are checking in and asking questions. Trying out their English and I try out my Korean. We get to joke some. Doctors are awesome.
I might be in here for a few days then of course this is going to take awhile to heal but I’m in good spirits. I haven’t felt too down about the entire thing. Just glad it was found when it was. It could have been a lot worse. Granted the area of surgery is almost in the absolutely worst area but it’s not. Close though. So very close.
I swear one medicine stings every time at first going into the IV. But yeah. Not too bad. It’s when I get home that has me slightly worried.
And just came from getting the…wound redressed. It should take around 5 weeks to heal. Not too bad. Just have to take care of myself well.
Now to watch CNN and enjoy water~ oh le refreshment lol.
Until next time!
